WASHINGTON—The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) is pleased to announce that The Hon. Margaret Abe-Koga, Régine Biscoe Lee, Krystal Ka’ai Hetherington, Ana Meade, Justin Oswald, and Mario Salazar will join its Board of Directors, and Deriece Harrington, Sierra Kelley-Chung, and Liliana Rañon have joined the National Advisory Council.
Founded by former Secretary Norman Y. Mineta and Delegate Robert Underwood in 1994, alongside the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), APAICS is a national non-partisan, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AA & NH/PI) participation and representation at all levels of the political process, from community service to elected office. Serving as the educational arm of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, our programs focus on developing leadership, building public policy knowledge, and filling the political pipeline for AA & NH/PIs to pursue public office at the local, state, and federal levels. APAICS is the sister organization of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute.
“As APAICS continues to grow and expand its impact, we are proud to welcome an exceptional group of leaders to our Board of Directors and National Advisory Council,” said Nisha Ramachandran, APAICS Board Chair. “Each of our new Board and NAC members brings unique expertise, perspectives, and a demonstrated commitment to AA & NH/PI communities. I look forward to working alongside them as we continue to build pathways for the next generation of leaders and advance our mission of increasing AA & NH/PI participation at every level of the political process.”
"We are thrilled to welcome these accomplished leaders to the APAICS Board of Directors. Their collective experience across government, business, advocacy, and community engagement reflects the breadth of talent and leadership within our communities," said Madalene Mielke, APAICS President and CEO. “Each of them has demonstrated a deep commitment to service and creating opportunities for others, values that are central to APAICS' mission. We are excited to benefit from their insights and leadership as we continue to invest in the development of future AA & NH/PI public servants and strengthen representation at every level of leadership."
