Eastern Regional Leadership Academy Happening This Weekend!




APAICS invites Asian American and Pacific Islanders interested in running for public office in the eastern seaboard region of the United States to join us for a 2-day training. We have extended the application deadline to 5:00 PM ET Thursday June 10.

Trainings will cover campaign planning, fundraising, and voter targeting. We will also have AAPI elected's Charlotte City Councilwoman Dimple Ajmera, Quincy City Councilwoman Nina X. Liang, Philadelphia City Councilman David Oh, and Virginia Delegate Suhas Subramanyam join us for a panel to speak on their experiences on the campaign trail and in office. The application only takes about 20 minutes to fill out. We accept all applicants who are committed to engaging in the training. Responses to the essay questions can be short. Now more than ever, it is crucial that AAPI individuals run for office to represent the changing and growing needs of our AAPI communities. Learn more here.

National Leadership Academy Today!


The APAICS National Leadership Academy (NLA) is a three-day leadership training event for current elected officials, individuals seeking to run for public office, and community stakeholders. The program consists of interactive political training with topics ranging from developing your campaign plan, communications, digital organizing, power mapping, and fundraising.

The NLA will take place July 16-18, 2021. Each training day will last 3-4 hours and participants must commit to attending each session to complete the program. Trainings will begin mid-afternoon (Eastern Time) to accommodate multiple time zones. Deadline to apply: Friday, July 9, 2021 Apply for our National Leadership Academy here.


 

Women’s Collective Office Hours Session

“Running for Office: Life in the Public Eye”



There are more AAPI women in elected office than ever, but we still need AAPI women candidates to bridge the gender gap in public office.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Join us for our next installment of our Women's Collective Office hours session on Tuesday, June 22nd from 1-2 PM ET. We will be talking about managing life in the public eye on the campaign trail. We will be joined by campaign experts Courtni Pugh of Hilltop Public Solutions and Christina Kuo of Grassroots Solutions. Our speakers will cover how to develop a public narrative for your campaign. Women's Collective Leadership Academy Applications Now Open!


For the first time ever, APAICS will be hosting a training specifically tailored for AAPI women candidates.

The Women's Collective Leadership Academy from August 10th -11th will be held before the annual Women's Collective Summit on August 12th. Training curriculum will cover campaign finance, digital strategy, and specific guidelines for women candidates to run a successful race.

Whether you're thinking of working on a campaigning or running for office yourself, apply today to meet a community of AAPI women candidates and elected officials!


 

Legislative Leadership Academy

Applications Now Open!



The APAICS Legislative Leadership Academy is a training program for AAPI mid-senior level legislative staffers to hone their leadership skills, deepen their confidence, and strengthen relationships to more effectively position themselves and pursue senior management roles in legislative offices. This year's program will run from October – December, 2021.

The program consists of:

  • 3 highly interactive weekend sessions. Each session is 6 hours total and takes place over the course of 2 days.

  • 6 hours of one-on-one coaching with a certified executive coach for each program participant.

  • Events with special guest speakers

Applications must be submitted by July 30th, 2021 at 11:59 PM. If you are a former or current Legislative Director, Chief of Staff, or other senior level legislative staffer, you can nominate candidates for the program here.
