Jason Chan

Secretary

Jason Chan serves both as the Chief of Staff to AT&T President of the West Region, and as Director of External Affairs, where he leads AT&Ts national Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) engagement, as well as AT&Ts national LGBTQ+ engagement. In both roles, he partners with the State and Federal External Affairs and Policy teams to develop strategies for third-party campaigns and ensure strong, cohesive messaging to communicate policy initiatives.

As Chief of Staff, Jason provides thought leadership and rapid response on shared issues and priorities, including COVID-19, wildfire relief, and social justice. He also leads ongoing development of the team through the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force and works with the President to plan high-value team building meetings.

As Director of External Affairs, Jason works to ensure AT&T is leading in social responsibility, including strengthening relationships with the AANHPI and LGBTQ+ communities, along with other diverse and underserved groups. With over a decade of experience in AANHPI and LGBTQ+ advocacy, Jason has been instrumental in developing the company's investment in the community, which has included workforce development, career readiness programs, digital media, and entertainment employment opportunities.

Prior to joining AT&T, Jason held multiple government appointments with the City and County of San Francisco, including Appointments Secretary for Mayor Gavin Newsom, and served as the Political Director for the Ed Lee for Mayor Campaign.

Jason currently serves on the board of the National Asian/Pacific Islander Chamber of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (National ACE), the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS), as well as Equality California, the nation's largest statewide LGBTQ+ civil rights organization. Jason has previously served on the California 1a District Agricultural Association, appointed by Governor Jerry Brown.

Jason holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from San Francisco State University.
