Dian Herrman

Dian Herrman is the Chief Operating Officer at APAICS, where she provides executive leadership over the organization's finances and internal policy. She brings more than 15 years of experience in operations, compliance, and public service to the role. She partners with the President/CEO and the leadership team on the organization's strategic plans, making sure its financial resources line up with its mission. Dian directs budget development and financial forecasting, using revenue and expense projections and performance data to guide spending decisions and plan programs and staffing with a clear view of what the organization can afford. She oversees the organization's day to day operations and administration, setting the internal policies and procedures that guide how the organization runs. Drawing on her compliance background, she makes sure APAICS meets its legal and financial obligations, identifying risks early and putting safeguards in place.

Before joining APAICS, Dian was a compliance analyst for the District of Columbia, managing a portfolio of more than $1 billion in government spending. There she led system improvements across District agencies, oversaw agency-wide training on the District's Small Business Enterprise law, and took the lead in drafting the District's first sports wagering legislation as it relates to small businesses. Earlier in her career, Dian was a strategic communications advisor for AFSCME, where she managed more than 20 organizing campaigns across the Midwest and led voter protection for the Cleveland region during the Obama-Biden campaign. She also served as Deputy Communications Director at the Maryland Democratic Party.

Dian holds a B.A. in Anthropology and a J.D.

Outside of work, Dian mentors young people in foster care through the D.C. Family & Youth Initiative. She is a devoted animal lover and shares her home with six cats and two dogs. She is proud to be part of APAICS, where she enjoys mentoring members of the AA & NH/PI community and helping build the next generation of AA & NH/PI leaders.
