This panel will discuss the unique challenges that the AAPI community faces in homeownership and ways to address them. We hope to increase understanding of how language access, third party mortgage origination and brokers all factor in bringing forth solutions to addressing challenges to AAPI homeownership.

About Our Panelists

Amy Kong is an immigrant from Hong Kong, Amy has served the San Francisco and Mid-Peninsula real estate markets since 1988. For decades, Amy has been tireless in her community outreach efforts: promoting property homeownership, enhancing the rights of property owners and advocating policies which enhance the economic benefits of property ownership. Among her impressive designations are Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB), and Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE). Amy is Co-Founder of Trust Real Estate, a Side network partner.

Honesty and integrity are her core values in the business and also in her community outreach. Among her various local and national endeavors, Amy served as the 2011 Chinese Real Estate Association of America (CREAA) President, the 2017-2019 Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA) Education Foundation Chair, and is the 2021 AREAA National President. She is bilingual in English and Cantonese.

Mike Fawaz is a Senior Vice President at Rocket Pro TPO. In his ten years at Rocket Companies, Fawaz held many titles, beginning as a Mortgage Banker in 2011 before quickly rising to Senior Director of Mortgage Banking. Fawaz was one of the first to join and lead QLMS (now Rocket Pro TPO) when their Detroit branch was created in 2017. As Senior Vice President, Fawaz leads more than 400 Account Executives providing support and business guidance to thousands of mortgage brokers across the nation. For this University of Michigan graduate, the business is simple. It is about the people. Whether teaching a new team member the basics of sales or helping a mortgage broker elevate their business, it is about providing the best care possible. “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”
