Christian Gyles Ramos

Serving 3 Years

Christian Gyles Ramos is an Administrative Associate at APIA Scholars and joined the organization in December 2024. As an Administrative Associate, he plays a proactive role in supporting multiple departments by assisting with various projects and administrative tasks, while advocating for resources that advance AANHPI students in higher education. Previously, Christian served as a Congressional Intern for the Office of Representative Judy Chu (CA-28) and as an Office Intern for the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS). From drafting constituent letters to compiling data on over 700 AANHPI candidates and elected officials across the country, he was immersed in the critical role that public service and policymaking play in creating meaningful change for the communities he serves.

Christian is a proud first-generation college graduate from the University of Guam, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and was recognized as a 2023 Truman Scholar. During his time as a Triton, he served in various leadership capacities and was a steadfast advocate for students from underrepresented and underserved backgrounds, including LGBTQ+ people, first-generation and low-income students, and BIPOC. After graduation, he continued to further his passion for public service in Washington, D.C. through volunteering with APAICS, SMYAL, Truman Scholars Association, Global Shapers (Washington, D.C. Hub), and Men4Choice.

With a deep passion and commitment for public service, he constantly strives to uplift the voices of AANHPI, LGBTQ+, and first-generation, low-income (FGLI) students everywhere. As an LGBTQ+ son of Filipino immigrant parents and from an economically disadvantaged background, Christian has witnessed firsthand the systemic disparities that hinder individuals from having a fair opportunity at life. These experiences fuel his passion for social justice, inspire him to create meaningful change, and champion policies that uplift marginalized communities everywhere. He hopes to pursue an MPA and/or JD to further his commitment and drive to advocate for equitable access to affordable housing, healthcare, education, and food security for low-income families and marginalized communities.
