Hazel Berger is the Programs Associate at the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS), where she supports the organization's leadership development programs.
Prior to joining APAICS, she served as a Project Assistant supporting former Chairs Jenny R. Yang and Charlotte A. Burrows of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission through a W.K. Kellogg Foundation-funded Workshop Fellowship. In that role, she supported workplace equity and civil rights initiatives through project management, policy research, stakeholder engagement, grant development, and executive support. Earlier in her career, she was a Communications Intern at Synergos Institute, a global nonprofit advancing collaborative solutions to complex social challenges, and an English Immersion Teacher in Guangzhou, China.
Hazel earned a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University in Gender, Sexuality, Feminist, and Social Justice Studies, with minors in Political Science and East Asian Studies. She also studied Mandarin at Beijing Language and Culture University, where she completed an Intermediate Practical Chinese Language Diploma.
She is passionate about expanding pathways to public service and empowering the next generation of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) leaders.
