Tech Summit 2022

Overview

The APAICS Tech Summit brings together community and corporate leaders, subject matter experts, as well as Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA & NH/PI) elected officials for bipartisan policy discussions that affect the AA & NH/PI community and the nation at-large.

Panel topics can range from AA & NH/PI representation at all levels in the tech industry, challenges and opportunities in addressing the digital divide, preventing online harassment and misinformation, digital skilling initiatives to increase technical literacy in underserved communities, the importance of privacy and cybersecurity in a growing digital world, as well as the potential effects of new and evolving technologies and legislation, and what our partners are doing to adapt to these changing conditions.

12:10 PM - 1:00 PM ET | Enabling Opportunities: 5G and Communities of Color

This panel will explore the potential of 5G mobile networks to increase economic opportunities, and how we can ensure that communities of color are not left behind.

1:05 PM - 2:00 PM ET | Challenges to Broadband Access: From Infrastructure to Digital Literacy

This panel will discuss the physical and social infrastructure that needs to be considered in order to enable the opportunities that high-speed internet can bring, particularly for underserved communities.

2:10 - 3:00 PM ET | Diversifying Career Pathways into the Tech Field

This candid discussion will highlight the gaps that still exist in the education and tech ecosystems that prevent more widespread participation in tech from the most underrepresented communities.

3:10 PM - 3:55 PM ET | Ethical Frameworks for Artificial Intelligence, Privacy, and Cybersecurity

How do we advance technology and ensure it is used in ways that respect civil rights, preserve privacy, ensure transparency, and hold both governments and companies accountable?

This discussion will convene leaders in the financial services community to explore how Fintech can be used to drive social equity as it relates to financial inclusion.
