Senior Development Associate

 

The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) is seeking a personable and engaged individual who is eager to contribute to a fast growing fundraising program. This position requires collaborative interactions with members of the development team as well as the President/CEO.

 

The Senior Development Associate plays an integral role as a member of the development team and is primarily responsible for organizing information and communications for new and existing donors to ensure the smooth administration of development operations. This position requires an individual who can prioritize and multitask while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.

 

The ideal candidate will have the capacity to think creatively, be self-driven and work independently with judgment and discretion.This individual will work under the direction of the Vice President of Development and External Affairs.​​

 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the President/CEO to create a development plan that increases brand awareness and revenue to support the organization’s strategic direction.

  • Manage communications for new donors, including a donor database; keep in regular contact with donors during fundraising drives/events.

  • Organize donor information and weekly communications schedule through use of Every Action.

  • Work closely with the Vice President of External Affairs to implement donor maintenance activities and events.

  • Email sponsorship packets and other correspondence to potential donors, volunteers and guests in order to inform them of opportunities and activities.

  • Prepare briefing materials for donor meetings and events.

  • Manage tasks related to call time preparation for President/CEO.

  • Manage donor research projects on prospective donors.

  • Perform basic administrative duties - scheduling, email, drafting documents/spreadsheets.

  • Manage data input of all donor history and interactions.

  • Compile donor lists for the annual report.

  • Assist with event planning logistics.

  • Maintain a donor database and execute prompt acknowledgement of donations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a similar role in development, fundraising, or campaigning; preferred background in non-profit and/or political campaigns.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word.

  • Experience with database management is a plus but not a requirement.

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrate sense of urgency, ability to independently determine priorities, maintain activity on a number of projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • High levels of organization and prioritization.

  • Self-motivated and able to thrive in a fast-paced, goal-oriented, team environment.

  • Sound judgment, discretion, and commitment. Maintain confidentiality and a high degree of accuracy in donor records.

  • Fundraising experience is not required but definitely a bonus.

  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting the AA & NH/PI community.

Compensation

  • Salary is $65,000 - $75,000 with healthcare premium reimbursement, 21 days of vacation and access to 401(k) plan after 90 days of employment, all federal holidays off, Christmas through New Year’s off, and transit benefits.

  • This full-time opportunity is located in Washington, DC.
