Sharon Kwon

Racial Equity Social Justice Fellow

Sharon Kwon is an APAICS Racial Equity Fellow (2021-2022) based in the metro D.C. area. Originally from Connecticut, she has worked on local, statewide and national political campaigns including the Hillary Clinton 2016 presidential campaign and the campaign to elect the current governor of Virginia Ralph Northam. While working as a regional political director on the campaign to elect gubernatorial candidate Ralph Northam she served as the 2017 Joe Montano fellow sponsored by the Democratic Asian Americans of Virginia and the AAAFund. She played a key role in ensuring that underrepresented constituencies had their voices heard throughout the campaign including communication, outreach, and fostering relationships between community leaders and senior campaign officials. Prior to working on political campaigns she worked as a translator and language instructor. She completed her bachelor’s degree in political science and history at the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree in International Law and Global Security at Georgetown University. In her free time she enjoys trying new recipes, road trips, and yoga.
