Devaki Dave

Racial Equity Social Justice Fellow

Office of Senator Catherine Cortez-Masto

Devaki Dave is a proud first-generation Indian American and is driven by her passion to cultivate a sense of belonging for all generations of Americans of all backgrounds. Growing up Devaki witnessed firsthand how a lack of representation rendered communities of color, like hers, invisible. Devaki aspired to a career in public service and, after completing her studies as a Terry Scholar at the University of Texas at Austin, she served as an AmeriCorps VISTA, a civil court clerk, and a public school teacher. Devaki went on to join the campaign of presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg to mobilize AAPI voters for the 2020 Nevada Caucus. Most recently, Devaki served as a Regional Representative for the Office of United States Senator Jacky Rosen where she assisted constituents with inquiries and casework and worked on a diverse portfolio of issues in Southern Nevada including education, housing, and immigration. Devaki also conducted outreach to the AAPI community in Southern Nevada and elevated the AAPI community’s needs. In her spare time, Devaki volunteered to mobilize AAPI voters, served as an assistant press secretary for the AAPI Democratic Caucus in Nevada, and helped found the South Asian Women’s Alliance of Nevada (SWAN), an organization that empowers the South Asian community through civic engagement and culturally competent services and programming. Devaki is grateful for the opportunity to serve as a 2021 - 2022 APAICS Racial Equity Fellow at the Office of United States Senator Catherine Cortez Masto and looks forward to serving in this new capacity.
