Ali Fazal

Ali Fazal is a North Carolina native with a background in political campaigns, community organizing, and public policy. He started his career as a staffer on the Biden-Harris Coordinated Campaign, where he helped register voters and elect Democrats up and down the ballot. Soon after the 2020 election, he served as Congresswoman Madeleine Dean’s legislative intern. In this role, he compiled press clips, drafted memoranda on staff briefings, and assisted in constituency correspondence. Ali is committed to community service and grassroots organizing. He served as First Vice Chair for the Orange County Democratic Party, and helped increase voter turnout in municipal elections. Additionally, he is a member of the North Carolina Young Democrats, where he serves on various committees and caucuses. Ali graduated from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Throughout his academic and professional career, he has proven to be an effective advocate for minority groups. Ali hopes to continue the fight for a more equitable future as an APAICS Fellow.
