The 2008 application is coming soon.
Every summer, APAICS' group of exceptional college students from across the nation experiences working in Congress, federal agencies or non-profits. This year, the Class of 2007 APAICS Summer Interns are no different. In addition, the interns attend briefings with members of Congress, networking events with other interns from other national Asian Pacific Islander American organizations, and also participate in joint activities with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. Interns also attend brown bag sessions with members of the National Coalition of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA), in order to learn more about the wide range of issues facing the APA and other minority communities. Hands-on experience, understanding of the inner workings of government, and independence are the results.
In the past, interns have been placed in differing offices suited to their interests and skills. Former placements have included the offices of Representative Al Green (D-TX), Representative David Wu (D-OR), Representative Mike Honda (D-CA), Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senator Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA), and Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) to name a few. Placements in federal agencies have included the Departments of Justice, Labor, Health and Human Services, Treasury, the Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Small Business Administration as well as non-profits including APAICS and the National Education Association (NEA).
Please continue to check this page for next year's internship application. However, for reference, the application for Summer 2007 is still available. You may download it here.
