Jason Tengco

Biography
Prior to joining APAICS, Jason worked for the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA) as the first ever Tam Tran Program and Outreach Fellow. During his time with
APALA, he helped organize APALA’s largest national convention in history, coordinated outreach to young leaders throughout the nation, and launched the Generations United Mentorship program.
Born and raised in San Francisco, Jason graduated from UCLA with honors in 2010 with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Public Affairs. Jason moved to Washington, DC in the fall of 2010 to intern in the White House where he was placed with the National Economic Council. He was initially introduced to the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) when he interned for Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-31) in the summer of 2008.
At UCLA, he was elected to student government, was the co-chair of Queer Pinay/Pinoy Conference 2009, and served on the executive board of Samahang Pilipino where he advocated
for justice for Filipino American veterans and the DREAM Act. As a former Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University, he eventually hopes
to receive his Master in Public Policy. Jason is committed to advancing the rights of the APA, LGBT, and immigrant communities.
