WASHINGTON - Vice President Joe Biden will keynote the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) 19th Annual Gala Awards Dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel on Wednesday, May 8. The dinner takes place during a celebratory week that brings thousands of Asian American and Pacific Islander community, government and business leaders to the nation’s capital.

APAICS president and former state legislator Floyd Mori welcomed the announcement, praising Vice President Biden’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the nation’s fastest growing racial group.

“Vice President Biden has spoken out on important issues that affect millions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, more than any vice president in history,” said Mori. “We’re honored to have him at our annual gathering, especially at this pivotal moment for Asian Pacific Americans fast on the rise.”

Mori said this year’s celebration will honor Asian American and Pacific Islander pioneers who have inspired a growing new generation of leaders to get more involved in the political process. President Barack Obama, who addressed last year’s APAICS gala dinner, appointed an unprecedented number of AAPIs to senior positions in his Administration and the federal courts.
