APAICS Statements on the Passing of Etsu Mineta Masaoka

Washington, DC - Jim Park, the chair of the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) and Gloria Chan, the president and CEO, issued the following statements today on the passing of Etsu Mineta Masaoka:

 

“On behalf of the APAICS Board of Directors and staff, I send our heartfelt condolences to Norm Mineta and his family,” said Jim Park. “We will remember Etsu enjoying her birthday at our APAICS Dinner just last month.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

“Etsu Mineta Masaoka was an incredible member of the Asian Pacific American community, and the APAICS family,” said Gloria Chan. “It was an honor meeting her last month at our APAICS gala, and I am in awe of her many contributions to our community and to our nation. My deepest sympathy goes to Norm Mineta, and the rest of Etsu’s family and friends.  She will be sorely missed.

The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) is a national non-partisan, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting Asian Pacific American participation and representation at all levels of the political process, from community service to elected office. APAICS programs focus on developing leadership, building public policy knowledge, and filling the political pipeline for Asian Pacific Americans to pursue public office at the local, state, and federal levels.
