APAICS Statement on the Passing of Matt Fong, Former California State Treasurer
Washington, DC - Today, Gloria Chan, the President and CEO of the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS), issued the following statement regarding the passing of Matt Fong, former treasurer of California, who passed away yesterday after a battle with skin cancer.
“On behalf of the board and staff members of APAICS, I send our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Matt Fong. Fong was a lifelong public servant, and active in the Asian Pacific American community. He was a supporter of APAICS, speaking at our leadership trainings for elected officials and attending our annual events. The community is indebted to his service, and our thoughts and prayers go to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
