Biography
Steve Cho was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He and his wife, Amy, have lived in Fremont for over 30 years. He earned his B.A. Degree in Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis, MO and his M.S. Degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California. Steve and Amy have one daughter, Beverly, who just graduated from UC Berkeley with her B.S. Degree in Chemistry. Professionally, Steve is a Systems Analyst and operates a software consulting business in Fremont.
Steve was elected to the Fremont City Council in November, 2000 and has served as the Vice Mayor of Fremont. He has earned the title, "The Ubiquitous Cho", because he is seen everywhere.
Prior to being elected to the city council, Steve Cho was appointed to the Fremont Planning Commission in 1998.
With over 30 continuous years of community service and volunteerism, Steve Cho served as the 1999-2000 president of Citizens for Better Community (CBC), a community service organization with a strong emphasis on community involvement. During his tenure as president, CBC through its committees, participated in or provided financial contributions to the Tri-City Homeless Coalition, Fremont Education Foundation, Fremont Libraries, East Bay Voters Education Consortium, Census 2000, Asian American Donor Program, Ohlone College Foundation, Washington Healthcare Foundation, Meals on Wheels, and the American Cancer Society.
Over the years, Steve Cho has been involved with the Fremont Chamber of Commerce; the Fremont Charter Committee; the South Bay Chinese Service Club, holding various positions; the Quail Run Homeowners Association, including two terms as president; the Organization of Chinese Americans, including serving as its president; Thornton Junior High Site Council; and the Warwick Elementary School PTA, serving as vice president.
