Biography

Ronald K. Ikejiri was re-elected by the citizens of Gardena in March 2009 to serve a third, four-year term as a Member of the City Council.
He is a highly respected attorney and an experienced legislative and governmental affairs advisor. He has served as the President of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association in Washington, D.C., as a member of the Department of Commerce Committee and the Department of Labor Advisory Committee on the Census and Occupational Safety, respectively, and is a member of the Policy Institute at University of California, Los Angeles. He holds both a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles, and has a Juris Doctorate Degree in Law from Northrop University.

Mr. Ikejiri is a fiscal conservative who advocates sound financial management and a business climate to help our community prosper. Also, he has been active in the Epilepsy Foundation of America and has worked with the Special Olympics in Southern California, as well.

The Councilman currently chairs the Gardena Beautiful Committee, which has sponsored the Annual Trivia Bowl Competition and many enjoyable musical events, such as the highly popular summertime Concerts on the Lawn. In addition, he is the Gardena City Council delegate to the League of California Cities. He also serves as City alternate to the Independent Cities Association and the South Bay Cities Council of Governments. At a County level, Mr. Ikejiri is serving as Chairman of the Citizens Economy and Efficiency Commission, appointed by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in August 2002.

His unwavering commitment to public service has been instrumental in shaping and developing many of the City's award-winning programs, policies, and partnerships.

Councilman Ikejiri's aspirations are to do his best for the City and the community, to work diligently to attract more business and commercial clientele to Gardena, and to meet important issues head-on.
