Biography

Lan is devoted to social justice issues that affect underserved communities. She graduated from Amherst College, where she received her B.A. in Cognitive Neuroscience with a minor in Asian American Studies. During her time at Amherst, she was a founding member of the Five-College Pan Asian Network (5PAN), an intercollegiate APA organization that seeks to raise awareness and mobilize students around such issues as on-campus hate crimes, immigrant rights, educational disparity, and more. Abroad, Lan worked at an orphanage for physically and mentally disabled children in Saigon, Viet Nam through the Tom Gerety Fellowship for Action, and studied in Denmark through the Minorities and Multiculturalism program.

In DC, she was a New Leaders Fellow through the Center for Progressive Leadership and an APAICS Fellow for the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies. During her fellowships, Lan divided her time between the National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum and the Asian American Justice Center, working on immigrant rights and healthcare reform. Lan then joined OCA, a national APA organization, as the program manager for member engagement and advocacy. At OCA, she took the lead on membership, communication, and public policy issues.

Currently, Lan is thrilled to be working with leaders and visionaries of the movement to end violence against girls and women as a part of the Move to End Violence initiative. Lan is housed at the Raben Group.
