Biography

Karen (Chang) Wu is an associate at Perlman & Perlman, LLP in New York City, where she provides legal counsel to the philanthropic community, including nonprofit organizations, fundraising vendors, corporations engaged in philanthropy, and social ventures.  Karen advises clients on corporate and governance issues, tax-exempt law, nonprofit fundraising and cause-related marketing regulation, and trademark law, including registration, licensing, and enforcement. 

Karen is on the board of Open Hands Legal Services, a Christian legal aid ministry providing free legal services to the poor in New York City.  She also serves on the board of the Townsend Harris High School Alumni Association.  She is currently serving as co-chair of the Pro Bono and Community Service Committee of the Asian American Bar Association of New York. 

Karen graduated from Wellesley College in 2000 and Brooklyn Law School in 2004.  She is married and has two daughters.

Karen was a 1999 APAICS Summer Intern and was placed at the Asian American Justice Center (AAJC) formerly known as the National Asian Pacific American Legal Consortium.
