Gloria Mak
2008-2009: House Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific and the Global Environment
Biography
Gloria Mak was the 2008-2009 Walmart/George R. Ariyoshi APAICS Fellow placed with the House Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific and the Global Environment. Her responsibilities included briefing Chairman Faleomavaega and staff in preparation for CODELs and hearings, organizing subcommittee hearings and receptions with dignitaries, and drafting hearing speeches and resolutions. As an APAICS Fellow with Chairman Faleomavaega, Gloria also took the lead to attend and participate in Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus meetings on behalf of his office.
In addition to her time on the Hill, Gloria has also worked in a number of public sector agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Center for Disease Control, and the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.
Gloria is currently in law school at the University of Virginia School of Law and is expected to graduate in 2013. She received her B.A. with a double major Legal Studies and Sociology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Gloria is a native of Boston, MA--Go Sox!
